This coming Saturday, March 28, coinciding with the Liga ACB match against <strong>Real Madrid<\/strong>, the Fontajau pavilion will become the setting for a solidarity event to raise awareness of the need to boost research into childhood cancer.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5570\" data-end=\"6067\">The campaign aims to raise <strong>\u20ac910,000<\/strong> to enable the launch of a new pioneering scientific infrastructure in Spain dedicated to pediatric oncology at the <strong>Vall d&#8217;Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR)<\/strong>. This new <strong>high-performance unit<\/strong> will be made up of highly qualified professionals in translational research, a specialized team of doctors, bioinformaticians and researchers, as well as advanced robotic technology, and will help accelerate the development of new drugs specifically for childhood cancer.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6069\" data-end=\"6325\">The name of the campaign, \u201cThe signing we\u2019re missing\u201d, is a metaphor representing the creation of this cutting-edge research unit, using the language of sport to place at the center of the debate a scientific and social need that is still not very visible.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6327\" data-end=\"6885\">In the words of <strong>Cristina Sanz, director of the Albert Bosch Foundation<\/strong>, <em>\u201ceach year more than 1,000 cases of childhood cancer are diagnosed in Spain, of which more than 170 are in Catalonia. These figures highlight the urgency of promoting specialized research that expands therapeutic options and offers stronger hope to patients and their families. For this reason, actions like the one this Saturday at the Fontajau pavilion are essential to bring the conversation about pediatric oncology beyond the strictly medical field and involve society as a whole.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6887\" data-end=\"7329\"><strong>\u2014 A sports event full of solidarity<\/strong><br data-start=\"6922\" data-end=\"6925\" \/>During the match between B\u00e0squet Girona and Real Madrid, the Fontajau pavilion will be filled with solidarity through various initiatives designed to encourage fans to support the project. The festive atmosphere will include the sale of exclusive campaign <strong>merchandise, such as jerseys signed by the players or scarves in the club shop, the sale of xuixos,<\/strong> as well as <strong>donations linked to ticket purchases.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7331\" data-end=\"7852\">On the court, the team\u2019s commitment will be visible from the very first moment: the players and the club\u2019s mascot, Cocollona, will appear in the <strong>official presentation wearing \u201cThe signing we\u2019re missing\u201d shirt<\/strong>. Then, one of the foundation\u2019s children will deliver the ball for the opening tip-off. The highlight of the day will come at halftime with a special performance by <strong>Ter\u00e0pia de Shock,<\/strong> who are currently on a charity tour in support of the foundation, bringing a musical touch to Fontajau in support of the campaign.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7854\" data-end=\"8248\"><strong>\u2014 Basketball, music and emotion in an unforgettable training session<\/strong><br data-start=\"7922\" data-end=\"7925\" \/>Beyond the match, the connection between the Albert Bosch Foundation, B\u00e0squet Girona and Ter\u00e0pia de Shock was already evident during a training session prior to the event. Pau, a child undergoing cancer treatment, and his brother Blai visited the sports facilities accompanied by Ferran Masseg\u00fa, singer of Ter\u00e0pia de Shock.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8250\" data-end=\"8729\">During this meeting, players Derek Needham, Mark Hughes, Martinas Geben and Pep Busquets, together with coach Moncho Fern\u00e1ndez, shared an unforgettable moment with the children, practicing shots and signing \u201cThe signing we\u2019re missing\u201d jerseys for them.
