The Maria Rosa Sans Foundation, promoted by Noel Alimentaria, is launching a new edition of its annual university scholarship programme, aimed at young people from La Garrotxa with ability and talent, but with limited financial resources that may represent a barrier to pursuing higher education. This new call will enable students from the region to access university studies.

With this ninth call for applications, opening this coming Saturday, 23 May, the foundation reinforces its commitment to equal opportunities and gives continuity to an initiative launched in 2018 with the aim of ensuring that no young person sees their educational path limited for financial reasons. Since then, the programme has benefited a total of 26 students and has allocated €211,450 to supporting university education for local talent.

The scholarships are aimed at students from a total of six secondary schools and educational centres in La Garrotxa, as well as from the secondary school in Amer, in the county of La Selva. They cover expenses related to enrolment and compulsory fees, accommodation, meals, travel and teaching materials, with a maximum grant of €10,000 per student per academic year. These grants may be renewed annually until the completion of university studies, provided that the student maintains the required academic performance and that the family’s financial situation continues to meet the criteria established by the foundation.

In this new call, candidates may submit their applications from Saturday, 23 May until Monday, 22 June 2026, through the administration office of the educational centre where they are currently studying. The decision will be communicated by registered post to selected candidates, and by email to those not selected and to reserve candidates.

— Support That Goes Beyond Financial Aid

To be eligible for the scholarships, applicants must be registered residents, or have been registered residents during the last two years, in a municipality in La Garrotxa. They must also be studying the second year of baccalaureate or the second year of a higher-level vocational training course at Institut Garrotxa, Institut Montsacopa, Institut Bosc de la Coma, Escola Pia Olot, Escola d’Art d’Olot or Institut Castell d’Estela, and must have achieved a minimum average grade of 7 out of 10 in their academic record upon completing their studies. In the case of underage students, authorisation from their legal guardians will be required.

In addition to financial support, scholarship recipients become part of the foundation’s mentoring programme, which offers them guidance throughout their university journey, as well as personal and professional support. This follow-up is carried out with the support of mentors from different fields, linked to the university studies chosen by the beneficiaries.

— About the Maria Rosa Sans Foundation

The Maria Rosa Sans Tintó Foundation was created in 2018 in Sant Feliu de Pallerols, Girona, at the initiative of the Boix-Bosch families, also at the helm of Noel Alimentaria, and the Boix-Bonfill family. Its purpose is to promote equal opportunities and foster the growth and development of people through education and the promotion of personal autonomy.

The institution works to support the careers of young people with talent and ability who, due to their family and financial circumstances, do not have sufficient resources to begin university studies.
