The Maria Rosa Sans Foundation, promoted by Noel Alimentaria, today held the award ceremony for the eighth edition of its university scholarships—an initiative that reaffirms our commitment to equal opportunities and to supporting young people in La Garrotxa so they can access higher education without financial constraints limiting their academic and personal development.

In this edition, six scholarships have been awarded to students from different educational centres across the region. Scholarship holders will pursue degrees in Classical Philology, Law, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology and Nursing at universities such as the University of Barcelona, the University of Girona, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. With these new awards, the foundation will have supported a total of 26 students since the programme was launched.

Beyond the initial award, scholarships may be renewed year after year until completion of studies, provided that the established financial criteria and academic commitment are maintained. Over its eight-year track record, including the 2025–2026 academic year, the total amount allocated to scholarships reaches €211,450, clearly reflecting the foundation’s sustained commitment to promoting and nurturing talent in La Garrotxa.

— A meeting to share experiences
The event was held at Noel Academy, Noel’s internal training centre in Sant Joan les Fonts, and brought together representatives of the foundation, secondary school teachers, scholarship holders from different editions and their families. During the event, a round-table discussion featured former scholarship recipients sharing their academic and professional experiences, highlighting the programme’s impact on their career paths. In addition, new beneficiaries will join the foundation’s mentoring programme, which provides personalised follow-up and guidance throughout their educational journey and future professional development.

“The future of our region lies with the new generations. We must support them, help them train and open doors so they can go as far as they set out to. This is the commitment we uphold at the foundation: placing talent and motivation ahead of financial difficulties,” said Joan Boix during the ceremony.

— Mentoring programme
Scholarship holders from this edition will join the foundation’s mentoring programme, launched five years ago, which enables personalised monitoring of progress and guidance throughout learning and future professional careers. Mentors are professionals from fields related to the chosen degrees, ensuring that both new and renewing students benefit from this additional support.
