  • The main business driver continues to be meat products, with special relevance in sliced cooked ham, where the company has reached a 22.7% market share in the national market
  • During the last financial year, the company maintained its investment policy with 23.3 million euros to support its activity
  • The group moves forward in its diversification strategy and consolidates its internationalization: 50% of its turnover already comes from exports

Noel, one of the leading food groups both nationally and internationally, headquartered in Sant Joan les Fonts, Girona, has once again set a record turnover in 2024, with sales of 664 million euros and a production volume of 127,184 tons, representing an increase of 4% and 3% respectively compared to the previous year. These results, presented on the occasion of the company’s 85th anniversary, reflect Noel’s stability and sustained growth in a demanding and highly competitive economic environment, consolidating its position as one of the leaders in the agri-food sector.

In the words of Albert Boix, General Manager of Noel, “the year 2024 has been a period of consolidation of our business model, which combines sustainable industrial growth, a strong commitment to innovation, and a firm conviction in internationalization.” For his part, Xavier Boix, also General Manager of Noel, adds that “in this sense, and with an eye on the future, at Noel we are driving strategic projects that anticipate the challenges of the sector, strengthening our production capabilities and expanding our range of products adapted to new consumption habits in the different markets in which we operate.”

Founded in 1940, Noel’s origins date back to a small butcher’s shop in Olot and, since then, the company has continued to grow with a clear purpose: to promote, sustainably, people’s development through food. With this premise, in 2025 Noel remains one of the major benchmarks in the agri-food sector, led by the fourth generation of the Boix-Bosch family, with a workforce of more than 2,700 people, 15 production centers throughout Spain, and operations in 66 countries.

Leaders in the meat sector and international presence
The meat business continues to be Noel’s main driver, with particular importance in cooked products, where the company has continued to grow in the national market, reaching a 22.7% market share in sliced cooked ham in 2024, surpassing the 20.9% achieved the previous year. This is partly due to the strong performance of the Delizias Al Corte and Delizias Pétalos ranges, which, together with the recent launch of Delizias Finas —with references containing 93% meat content and free from gluten and lactose— reaffirm the brand’s position in this product category.

Geographically, Spain remains Noel’s main market, with 345 million euros in sales, while almost 50% of the remaining turnover comes from other international markets. In this way, Noel’s commitment to maintaining a global presence is consolidated. A clear example is the recent alliance with Jiangsu Toword Food to market products under the brand in the Chinese market through a newly created company, Toword&Noel Food Group, jointly owned 50% by both companies.

Investment with a vision for the future
To support and ensure the proper development of its activity, in 2024 Noel allocated a total of 23.3 million euros to different investment projects, an increase of 6% compared to the previous year. This commitment has strengthened production capacity, improved processes, and prepared facilities to face future challenges.

Among the main investments are 4 million euros for the commissioning of new drying chambers at the Noel 4 plant, aimed at increasing the production of cured minced products; 3.5 million for the modernization of the sliced products plant Noel 3, to improve efficiency and service quality; and 1.2 million euros dedicated to the expansion of the cooked products plant Noel 1. All three facilities are located in the municipality of Sant Joan les Fonts. In addition, 3.9 million euros were allocated to the Noel Olot plant, dedicated to pork cutting, which has expanded its operational and logistical space.

“These actions are part of our commitment to anticipate the major changes in the agri-food sector, enhancing flexible infrastructures, efficient technologies, and more sustainable production models that allow us to grow solidly in an increasingly competitive and dynamic environment,” said the Boix brothers, General Managers of Noel.

Business diversification
Beyond meat products, and in line with the project launched a few years ago to enter other product categories, Noel has continued to strengthen its strategy of consolidating other business divisions. Thus, the group has continued to advance in the production of creams, gazpachos, sauces, and cold-pressed vegetable juices through its affiliated companies Tap Tap Food and The Juicy Group. Likewise, in the ready meals segment, Noel continues its partnership with renowned Catalan chef Nandu Jubany through the company Global Art Cooking, focused on the manufacture of premium croquettes and cannelloni. The turnover of these business divisions reached 35.7 million euros in 2024, 13% more than the previous year.

A model focused on people, the environment, and society
In its 85th anniversary year, Noel continues to pursue the challenge of maintaining leadership based on responsible and sustainable growth. All of this with a family legacy that has always upheld a corporate culture promoting values such as quality and safety, innovation, commitment, closeness, and passion.

In this regard, the company carries out its activity based on a Sustainability Strategy that structures all its actions around three main pillars: people, the environment, and social contribution, with the aim of consolidating a business culture that fosters a positive impact throughout the value chain.

In the area of people, Noel is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive work environment focused on the professional and personal growth of its teams. Among the company’s initiatives is an investment of more than 55,000 training hours for its staff—150% more than the previous year—in technical areas, interpersonal skills, environment, equality, and languages, with the aim of promoting employee growth and well-being.

Regarding the environment, Noel promotes concrete measures to minimize the impact of its activity on the surroundings. One of the most significant milestones achieved in this area has been the reduction of water consumption per ton produced by 25% over a five-year period, from 3.21 m³ in 2020 to 2.43 m³ in 2024. In terms of plastic reduction, the company has removed 75 tons of plastic from the market, adding to the 97 tons saved in 2023, thanks to reduced film thickness and the application of new eco-design criteria in the product life cycle, thus increasing the environmental sustainability of its packaging. In addition, the company continues to work on reducing its carbon footprint and adopting renewable energies to move toward more efficient and environmentally friendly production.

As for the social sphere, Noel continues to promote its community commitment through the work of its foundations.

First, the Albert Bosch Foundation, which promotes research and the search for solutions for cancer, especially childhood cancer, and other pediatric diseases. Over its twenty-year history, it has allocated more than 2.3 million euros to various medical research projects. The foundation is currently in the final stage of its most ambitious project to date: the comprehensive renovation of the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Area of the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital in Barcelona. This 7.4-million-euro project will forever change not only the look of the facilities—making them more comfortable and welcoming—but also the relationships and well-being of patients, families, and medical professionals. It will also improve existing treatments and enable the implementation of new ones. The initiative, called “Enhanced Reality,” has been carried out in collaboration with the Aladina Foundation in Madrid and the Small Foundation in Barcelona. The first phase was inaugurated on October 15, and the project is expected to be completed this summer.

On the other hand, the Maria Rosa Sans Foundation supports talented young people from the Garrotxa region by awarding scholarships that allow them to access university studies without financial barriers. Since its creation in 2018, the foundation has granted a total of 20 scholarships to talented students with financial difficulties, valued at more than 166,000 euros.

Finally, in 2024 Noel participated in more than 177 cultural and sports initiatives throughout the Garrotxa region. Among them stands out its involvement with the Eudald Morera Foundation, which annually organizes the Vallviva solidarity festival to raise funds for cancer-related disease research.
