● The recognition has been awarded by Bureau Veritas, a global leader in conformity assessment and certification
● The distinction reinforces the company’s sustainability strategy, based on three pillars: people, environment and society
Within the framework of Alimentaria 2026, Noel, a leading food group both nationally and internationally, has once again been recognised with the certificate “Sustainable event aligned with the SDGs”, awarded by Bureau Veritas, a global leader in testing, inspection and certification.
This distinction highlights the company’s commitment to promoting sustainability across all areas in which it operates, including the adoption of responsible practices aimed at reducing environmental impacts and generating significant benefits within the context of the fair, both for the host community and its participants.
To achieve this recognition, Noel developed a model for planning, designing and managing its stand based on environmental, social and economic criteria, with the aim of minimising the footprint associated with its trade fair activity. This approach is based on the measures applied during the preparation and development of its participation in the event, whose verification by Bureau Veritas is carried out in accordance with the criteria established within the scope of the certificate.
Jordi Port, Corporate Director of Communication and Sustainability at Noel, stated that “at Noel, we understand our participation in Alimentaria not only as a commercial showcase, but also as an exercise in responsibility towards the environment. In this sense, we incorporate sustainable criteria from the design phase of our stand through to its dismantling, aligning each of the decisions taken with the objectives defined in our sustainability strategy”.
From environmental commitment to social impact
From an environmental perspective, the company has implemented various actions to reduce the impact of its presence at Alimentaria 2026. These include the use of recycled materials in the construction of the stand and the use of 100% renewable energy provided by Fira. These initiatives are complemented by the commitment to donate surplus food to local charitable organisations.
During the certification ceremony, Elena Cid, Business Developer and Lead Auditor at Bureau Veritas Iberia, highlighted: “Events are spaces with a significant impact, both environmental and social. It is essential for organisations to integrate sustainability criteria from the planning stage, considering carbon footprint, resource management and return to the local community. Noel has once again demonstrated how this can be effectively achieved at Alimentaria 2026, aligning these practices with the SDGs”.
About the United Nations SDGs
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a shared framework that calls on organisations and society as a whole to adopt measures that not only seek immediate benefit but also consider long-term impacts on the planet and society, with particular attention to the most vulnerable populations.
In this sense, the SDGs represent a roadmap towards a future in which economic growth can coexist with environmental sustainability and social equity, thus ensuring the wellbeing of present and future generations. Achieving these goals requires cross-sector collaboration.
